            ROBERT JON REED

Born and raised in the seaside town of Swanage in Dorset, Robert always loved being outside among its miles of unspoilt countryside and beaches with the elegant curves of the Purbeck Hills as a constant iconic background; by the age of twelve he was facinated by the power and storytelling capacity of images and so began taking photographs with the family camera around his home town -  landscapes, the sea, any design that fascinated him.

Unsuprising then that his visual awareness was well developed even before he was accepted to study Photographic Art and Design at what is now the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. Whilst at college, and a subsequent move to central London, Robert increasingly photographed people and soon editorial documentary and portraits became his main work.

Combining his social skills with the ability to  produce strong yet sensitve images, many local, national and internationally known artists, executives and prominant members of society became his subjects, their portraits intended for publication all over the world.

During this period, time was split between his London base and a seaside apartment in Spain, where his passion for landscape and documentary was satisfied by regularly photographing the countryside, buildings and events for publicity, editorial and advertising use by local companies and agencies.

Now living near the Kent/Surrey border, portraits and weddings are photographed only by  special request as Robert concentrates on exploring the beauty and wildness of nature and the integration of humans and their designs upon it,  further developing his own style of travel and landscape pictures intended for display, publication and photo libraries.
